Teaching Philosophy
As I am a beginning teacher, my philosophy has been limited to the experience in which I have had in teaching children to swim, and babysitting my adorable next door neighbours. I am sure that my philosophy will change as I gain more experiences in the classroom, but I doubt that the fundamental aspects of it will change.
Teach them well and they will lead....
Within every classroom, there is a diverse community of learning and that varies in both ability and also learning style. All students respond to situations differently, because each student is different. As a teacher I would draw on these differences, and provide an inclusive classroom that accommodates for all children. The children will have the opportunity to guide the lessons, based on their abilities and learning styles.
Let the imagination run wild....
Children have the wildest of imaginations, and this provides for a very interesting classroom. No two imaginations are the same, so providing activities where the children get to explore their imaginations, will highlight the diversity within the classroom, but also provide an enjoyable environment for both student and teacher.
Effective teaching comes from the environment....
I believe in creating a caring, secure and nurturing environment for all children of all abilities. If you have the right environment, students will naturally grow and learn to their fullest potential. I believe that providing a safe environment where children can share and explore their ideas is the key to effective teaching.
Laughter is the best medicine....
Children see the world very differently to the way we adults see it. I have learnt through children to open my heart and my mind to everything around me, and see it in a different perspective. Children are surrounded with both joy and innocence, and they laugh like there's no tomorrow. If you can take anything from the children, is to live life to the fullest, do not care about what happens next and just have a laugh. I will always have a laugh with my children, as it keeps the happiness flowing.
